The Memorial Baptist Church Covenant
Having been called to be the people of God in this age, and in the world to come, we commit ourselves to Jesus The Christ, the only head of the Church and Lord of our lives. We affirm that God is the Creator of the Universe and Father of us all.
Through baptism, we have declared our death to old values and lifestyles. We have been called out of darkness into the light through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Through the Lord's supper, we continually remind ourselves of Christ's supreme sacrifice for us. We seek to be faithful stewards of the resources which our Lord has given to us. We unselfishly and cheerfully support the work of God's ministry through the local church.
We, the Living Church, have responded in faith to the call of discipleship. Through daily devotions, prayers, worship, Bible study, fellowship and training, we seek to celebrate our faith, nurture each other in love, and cultivate a spirit of forgiveness among one another and within ourselves.
We believe in the ministry of the local church and the Church Universal: to win the lost, feed the hungry, comfort the bereaved and the lonely, to heal the sick, care for the imprisoned and the handicapped and to be a prophetic voice of hope and justice in the public and private arenas of life.
When our ties with this local church are severed, we will immediately unite with another church to continue to be active witnesses for the Kingdom of God.
We believe in the world to come. We herald the day when the dead in Christ will rise triumphant over death and the grave and the creation will claim Jesus Christ as Lord. (PRW 1982)
"Now may our Lord, Jesus Christ Himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope throuh grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good word and work." (II Thessalonians 2:16)
